What is stroke?
Stroke occurs when the blood supply to an area of the brain is cut off

Types of stroke:
1. Ischemic stroke ; caused by abrupt blockage of arteries that sends blood to the brain resulting to brain damage
2. Hemorrhagic stroke; when a blood vessel bursts and bleeding occurs into brain tissue

(A) WARNING SIGNS  OF STROKE: 
A. Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg especially on one side of the body
B. Trouble/difficulty in speaking or understanding speech
C. Difficulties in seeing or blurr vision in one or both eyes
D. Sudden difficulty in walking  or problem with coordination
E. Severe headache with no cause
Others symptoms are:
F. Loss of sensation in any part of the body
G. Memory loss
H. Behavioral changes
I. Stiffness of the muscles
J. Difficulty swallowing
K. Involuntary eye movement

(B) CHECK PARAMETERS FOR A PERSON THAT MAY BE HAVING STROKE:
Recognizing stroke symptoms and signs early is good and important. If you suspect that someone may be having a stroke here are check parameters:
■ Face drooping: ask the person to smile, if one side is dropping, if the smile appears uneven
■ Arm weakness; ask the person to raise both hands. If there is weakness or numbness on one side, or one arm drifting down
■ Difficulty in speech; ask the person to repeat a simple sentence and look out for any abnormality in the speech.
If the above checks are registered,  immediate medical attention is required for the person to avert long term effect or death

(C) PREVENTIVE MEASURES AGAINST STROKE:
1. Maintain a regular healthy (balance) diet. Remember 20% acidic 80% alkaline food (refer to previous  health seminars)
2. Maintain healthy weight (know  your body mass index) avoid consumption of high calories food.
Daily calories required for men is about 2500calories and women 1500. Excess calories play a major role in overweight/obesity.
Among other preventive measures are;
3. Exercise regularly
4. Stop smoking
5. Manage cholesterol
6. Manage sress
7. Use natural healthy products
Indoor/outdoor exercises like press ups, walking, jogging around will aid your body system.
The health risk/danger of smoking can not be overemphase,  avoid it
